This is very close to what I would write up for why I advocate for the rights of men. It is very close to why I oppose feminism. There are a few points of semantics I disagree with and she repeats some incorrect “common knowledge”. Over all if I wanted a Men’s Rights Manifesto, with some very minor edits, this would be it. Taking out “The Patriarchy” and “Rape Culture” would do nothing to change the message. Correcting the incorrect “common knowledge” only makes the case stronger.
If feminists would just start this trending, feminism may change.
Agreed. If this is what mainstream feminism was like, I’d already be a proud feminist. Unfortunately, we know that it’s not. Thus, I will continue to identify as egalitarian no matter how many feminists attempt to tell me that doing so is “closet misogyny”.
If believing that all sexes should have the same rights and double standards should die is “going against my interests”, then I don’t *want* to work for my interests.
I agree fully with your statements. and somewhat with hers. It makes me happy that at least one feminist is actually maintaining an open mind and listening to men.
Honestly, if feminists and MRA would sit down, in a public setting and maintained a tempered discussion about rights that need to be afforded to both sides.
It may be a bit older, but feminists are at a crossroads, either they continue on the path that they’re on, or they *actually* fight for equal rights.
Her statements on the social reactions of men beating women, vs women beating men were pretty much word for word MRA.
Ms. Zimmerman however can eat a dick, all offense intended, because if I make a joke about rape, or beating women, it is frowned upon, however, a woman can make a “joke” that goes along to lines of killing all men, and it’s fucking ENCOURAGED!
But here I am, just taking another hit, and not letting it bother me…
