A voice for male students posted this.
They are not all profound quotes, some of them are even demonstrably true. It is a fair and reasonable attempt to bring the misandry in academia to light. Man Boobz attempted to “Fact Check” the quotes. He highlights 3 of the quotes. His claim is the others where not worth fact checking, but I expect he did. These are just the three that are not 100% dead on accurate.
So first quote.
This is the corrected quote in context. Man Boobz was correct the quote as originally presented
“As long as some men use physical force to subjugate females, all men need not. The knowledge that some men do suffices to threaten all women. He can beat or kill the woman he claims to love; he can rape women…he can sexually molest his daughters… THE VAST MAJORITY OF MEN IN THE WORLD DO ONE OR MORE OF THE ABOVE.”
– Dr. Marilyn French, The War Against Women, p. 182, her emphasis.
Does make it look like French is calling all men rapist or child molesters. But ya know what, the full quote isn’t much better. It’s Schrodinger’s Rapist with out any of the fluff. So, while the nuance may be different with the full quote, the message is the same. All men are oppressing all women by virtue of penis.
The Quote mine is in yellow. Did taking that out of context change the meaning. Most decidedly. Does having the full context make it any better? Not in the slightest. So what she’s doing is trying to change the definition of rape from an action to “how she feels about it in the morning”. She is not asserting that is already the case. This is a real difference, but it’s still misandry of the highest order.
Consent as ideology cannot be distinguished from habitual acquiescence, assent, silent dissent, submission, or even enforced submission. Unless refusal or consent or withdrawal of consent are real possibilities, we can no longer speak of ‘consent’ in any genuine sense.
– Dr. Carol Pateman, “Women and Consent,” Political Theory, vol. 8, p. 149.
No fact checking required, this is a Man Boobz approved accurate quote. He just doesn’t see the misandry. Well as I said the quotes are a bit hit and miss. This one takes a bit of a deeper understanding. It’s the mind reading problem. How is a suitor going to know the difference between habitual acquiescence and genuine consent? The feminist assertion that consent is always 100% indisputable clear is bullshit, this quote says so. Holding men to the standard of being able to read someone’s mind and know the difference between habitual acquiescence and consent is misandry.
O, and “Ginny”. Yea, so what only the first name is published? There is a proper link to the Time Magazine article with the quote in it. Do you really want a MRA site to be publishing feminists full name, address, and social security number? If you want to know who this individual is talk to Time, they are the original publishers of the quote.
